Behind the Scenes Look:
Filmed over two days in two different challenging environments – one being submerged 3.6m underwater in a helicopter crash testing facility, and the other exposed to the elements on a cold winters day at a rough west coast beach in NZ.
The band spent 4 weeks preparing for this physical shoot with cold exposure, and learning how to hold their breath for minutes at a time underwater to be able to capture this idea on video. Having to learn how to scuba dive and then tackle any further obstacles in the way. Guitars needed weights attached to them, the challenge of getting audio playback down to the band underwater and making sure no one gets hypothermia on the beach, among other things.
With the aid of a specialist team an underwater remote operated vehicle and the band’s dedication to making it happen, a unique video was made without any smoke and mirrors - every shot was a battle against the environment around them.
